A digital photographer just loves DV

One of my good friends, Yao, who loves photography since teenage years with an old American camera got from his grandfather, had focused on choosing his first digital camera (DC) for eight years before making his decision to own one. In the meantime, he reviewed all the DCs he ever knew or tried, and advised various people to buy their cameras. He loves comparing technical specifications of digital cameras, especially CCD's type, size, resolution and material.

What kind of great digital camera did he finally choose? Canon DC40, a DVD video camcorder, not a dedicated camera! Of course, Canon DC40 can be a digital camera, if the user uses it for stills.

Although I am afraid that it might not be a good choice for me or other people but it seems to be a right choice for him. I think it is just a compromised solution. However, some of his pictures show that using a DV as a DC is workable.

All the photos in this post were taken with video camcorders, in The Park of Spring City (former Jinan Botanic Gardens) or The Park of Daming Lake in Jinan, China. The author is Yao Xiang; and the pictures have been reposted here under his permission. Click on the pictures to view them in original size, 2304*1763 or 2048*1536.
